Biography

Doris Maxine Lewis, 85, of Chillicothe, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 3:13 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born March 31, 1925, in Iowa, the daughter of John and Eva (Bachman) Lackey, she married Kenneth Lewis, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Christine (John) Heffron of Chillicothe and Terri Allen of Streator, Ill.; grandchildren, Aaron Heffron of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Nathan Heffron of Chicago, Ill., Sara Heffron of Spokane, Wash., Meagan (Ray) Magana of Streator and Mary (and fiance, Kenny Rainey) Rothrock of Streator; stepgrandson, Michael (Robin) Heffron of El Paso, Ill.; three great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a special friend, Norm Reeves of Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Matt Heffron; two brothers; and one sister.

Doris worked at Schradzki's Clothing Store in Peoria and Advanced Technology Services (ATS) in Peoria.

She was a member of Smithville Bible Church and attended University United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 19, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Pastor Brent Ressler will officiate. Burial will be in the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville, Ill. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
