Daniel Lee Goodman Sr., 53, of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in his home at 12:20pm, Thursday, July 1st, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Born December 20, 1956 in Peoria, IL, he was the beloved son of Robert W. and Sharon L. Goodman, of Chillicothe, IL.

Surviving are his two sons, Robert A. and Daniel L. Jr., both of Mattapoisett; sisters, Terry (Chet) Coffey and Janey (Steve) Welch of Chillicothe, IL; brother, Robert W. (Melissa) Goodman Jr. of Edelstein, IL; nephews, Justin (Andrea) Coffey, Matt Welch; nieces, Sarah (Jeff) Carlson, Katie Welch, Heidi and Lizzie Goodman, all of Chillicothe and Edelstein, IL; and step-nephews Bryce Kaiser and Cameron Eash, both of Edelstein. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Goodman Sr., and grandparents, Thomas R. Goodman, Velma Wieland, Elbert K. Short, Elizabeth L. Short, and step grandparents Annette Goodman and Eugene Wieland.

Dan graduated from Illinois Valley Central High, Chillicothe, IL in 1974 and entered the apprenticeship at Caterpillar Tractor Company’s Mossville Engine Division. He then moved to Houston, TX to work for Hughes Tool Co. and then Kennametal tooling company. He worked for Kennametal in California, Detroit, North Carolina and New Hampshire. Dan began his current advertising career at Traveler Publications of Rhode Island and later joined Holden and Assoc. Advertising of Dartmouth in 1995 as a Senior Account Executive. He then formed Coastal Marketing Group of Mattapoisett in 2003. Dan most recently was elected as committee member for Ole Rochester Regional Distric School Committe in Marion.
Dan was a pilot in the 1980’s and enjoyed traveling the country. He loved spending time with his sons, traveling and supporting their BMX Racing. He was well known for giving and doing special things for others.

The family wishes to thank Sue Mechler of Community Nurse and Hospice Care of Mattapoisett for her compassionate care during Dan’s final days.

A visitation was held Sunday, July 4th, 12 – 2pm at Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home in Mattapoisett, with a memorial service immediately following. Liz Brimm of Mattapoisett officiated.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 8th from 6-8pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Dan will be laid to rest near his father and grandfather during graveside services Friday at 11am, at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Liz Brimm of Mattapoisett will officiate.
